so after the kids party i was kinda sick to my stomach with all the trash we generated. i wanted things to be different for my parent party and so i found this company called Branch that sells 100% biodegradable & compostable tablewear. looks super cool, relatively cheap (50 plates for $9) it worked well as tablewear now we'll see how it composts. this morning i added it to our already gigantic compost pile and as with the corn i'll be documenting weekly the decomposition of this tablewear. sorry if this is gross but i think it could be neat....we'll see!

50th birthday party!
my sister and i threw our parents a surprise birthday party on Sunday. they both turn 50 this summer so we thought it would be fun to have everyone come together and celebrate. the weather could have been better for a Luau themed party but we'll take what we can get. about 30 minutes before people started to arrive a freakin' monsoon hit all of south jersey. luckily i set up inside this time around. we endured and everyone although slowed down did arrived safely. my parents we're completely surprised which was one of the highlights. even got some tears out of mom :o) even though everyone we invited couldn't come we had a lot of gems from there past show up which was priceless. it was fun for me to see everyone too!! i didn't take many pictures but here are the ones i have. click on them to make them bigger. they are in reverse order.... so look at them from last to first :o)

strange children
i caught him in action today. he has this thing with licking my face lately. perhaps he thinks he's giving me kisses, but he's definitely slimming me. it's cute none-the-less.
oh and here is Mayden reading a book to a dead worm. she had it in her mind that this worm (who was once alive and fell victim to being "loved" to death) needed to be read to. so she read to it. so be it.

i've come to realize
there are worse things in life then spending the last 30 minutes of a busy week being licked to death by your 3 year old and 1 year old.

grey, be gone!
due to life changes beyond my control i have had to take drastic measures. my lovely sister was able to remedy the problem this morning. hubby doesn't even know about it and unless he reads this he will be in for a surprise when he gets home! i believe i will embrace the grey when i get older but 29 is just too young!

garden update
remember my garden a few months ago? well it looks much different now. the spinach has already come and gone. i'll probably plant more of that once it gets cooler again. but the squash is looking good these days. everytime we go to tend the garden May yells "look!!! surprises!!" we've already had some zucchini this week and there is much more to go around. i've been delivering some to our neighbors... i don't want any to go to waste. let me know if you have a good zucchini recipe. spaghetti squash will be next as you can see them all over but they aren't quiet ripe yet. i'm really excited for the tomatoes, but none have arrived yet. yea for free (organic) food!!

ga$ update
so remember my $52 tank of gas that i vowed to last me one month?! welp, it's all but gone. i have just enough gas to get me to the closest gas station. the last time i went anywhere was last Friday (June 27th) and i will not be going anywhere until this coming Saturday... that will be the one month (4 weeks) mark. i'm hoping to be able to get to the Farmer's Market on Saturday but i guess i'll wait and see what the almighty bank account says.
