i've recently been using my microwavable heating pad that i got for Christmas many years ago. it was the last one in the store and there is clearly a reason for it (smiley faces galore!) we're keeping our house chilly this year which is fine but the extra heat from these things is really helpful! i searched www.etsy.com for a new one and decided they looked easy enough to make so i gave it a try.
these are filled with beans but i'm going to give rice & feed corn a try to see which is best. the beans give off a "cooked" smell when heated that the kids don't like so i'll either add an essential oil to the mix or move onto the rice or corn.
after i made the one for myself i thought some smaller ones for the kids would be cute... and they are! i put one at the foot of their beds each night and it does seem to help. Mayden especially likes hers and keeps in on her feet while she's falling asleep.
i love this picture... a sign of things to come perhaps!
--don't worry it was unplugged, turned off and i don't think he could reach the peddle anyway :o)
